My knitting day should be about 20 h long, sadly the "real life" always chimes in and demands my attention. And because of all those ideas I hardly manage any actual knitting because I always plan, research, browse, plan more, draw and so on and have at least 100 things at one time on my plate.
The victim of all this is the Lace Trimmed Sweater which is hardly worked on. The back was like a breeze, but at the front I'm stuck right beyond the armholes and I see hardly any progress. And then there are even sleeves ...
The kindergarten teacher of my daughter asked me, if I could knit some crowns for their dress up box. Princess is a rather popular costume but the crowns are always a problem because they are so quickly broken. Knitted crowns are nearly indestructable.
Some time ago I saw the great new kitchen of my sister-in-law for the first time. And I noted that her hotpads don't match the colour in any way. When I was at Rödel this week (the yarn for my Lace Trimmed Sweater is not enough because I originally bought yarn for a sleeveless top and than changed plans), I saw some bright orange dishcloth cotton that should match perfectly the colour of the kitchen. I just couldn't resist it (I also couldn't resist a ball or Regia Royal colour in wine red ...).
And yesterday I cast on for a hotpad. With a cat on it (because that's just what's perfect). To get a really useful hotpad from a dishcloth pattern I decided to knit it twice and than crochet both together.
She still can use it as a dishcloth (if she likes).
When ordering from Schoppel it is very adviseable to collect from several people, because there are good discounts on larger quantities. For me is only the little heap on top left - some blue yarn for a boy's sweater, some balls of more or less solid coloured sock yarn and a few skeins for dyeing (one is wool-silk-bamboo to experiment with). The rest is for family and friends.

For the easer holidays we traveled to Bavaria - for getting there we took a different route than usual because of some traffic jam, accidents and weather. Only when we had almost passed it I realised we drove nearly through the backyard of Schoppel. Being Good Friday (a holiday in Germany) they had closed anyway. But the next time I'll plan the trip better!
My dad assembled one for me. During the last years I bought quite some yarn in skeins and my handspun yarn is wound into skeins so there is some need for a swift.
On the other hand umbrella swifts are rather expensive (or look, like they won't stand much usage). Somewhere on the internet I found construction details for a swift. As my handymen English isn't very good and my dad doesn't speak English at all, it was not of much use for us. But just looking at the pictures was inspiration enough and now I have a swift, that can make skeins from 120 cm to about 2 m circumference. Because of the adjustable rods every size in between is also possible. And the best: the whole construction can be taken apart for easy storage.
