In our Kindergarten there is a wonderful, warm hearted kindergarten teacher. She was the absolute favorite of my son when he started kindergarten about 3 years ago and it was vice versa. Because her name was much to complicated for a 3 year old boy he shortened it to Frau Ö.
For nearly two years she now has health issues und we all hope, she can return to her job soon. These socks shall be a little encouragement. I think the colours are very her.
Frau Ö Socken
It has been my first ball of "Mexico"-painted yarn in years and it was fun again, although I prefer knitting pattern stitches at the moment and they usually don't work with such striking colouring.
Little anklets at the beginning of winter - maybe not the best of all possible ideas.

But I was just to knit this beautiful garn I got as a consolation prize from Angela. While knitting with this yarn I discovered it's really wonderful, a bit like silk. But because of a rather high part of non-animal fibers it seemed not as elastic as normal sock yarn. Some enquirys gave me the same info. So I decided I'm not going to make normal length socks but anklets. True to the maxim: what's already down can't slip down anymore.
Another booooooring pair of man's socks is finished.
#1 Partner Socks
I'm so glad, my partner likes colourful socks, too. Would he - like many men - insist on very inconspicous socks, we would have to buy handknitted socks on christmas markets and the like to meet his needs. In the long term I would refuse to knit socks like this.
And thus sockapalooza 4 is finally finished - the saviour socks are all knitted, too.
Firestarter
I wrote some things about the pattern a few days ago - it's detailed, very detailed, too much details for my liking. But maybe I just have too much routine in knitting socks, so I just don't need most of the information. This pattern clearly leaves no open questions, even if you've never knit toe-up, or never knit a gusset or a heel or a sock at all. The only needed skills should be "knitting in the round".
Another pair of socks for me - my drawer is getting very full.

Lesson learned on this sock: 56 stitches is a tad to small for socks in my shoe size. The socks fit, but barely und putting them on isn't comfy at all. It would have been so easy adapting the pattern in width: just adding some knit stitches.
The pattern stitch itself was much fun and was even a bit addictive: just one more the repeat of six rows. That's way the socks were finished quite fast
Mark the day - I've found toe-up-socks that I love. I love them so much that I put a quite a few respective socks on my knitting queue.
Let's see, how long that love lasts.
Coupling
The reason why I found suddenly this love: the heel. I don't like short-row-heels. Be they with or without gusset - they are to tight above the instep and for that aren't really comfortable. For my feet a short-row-heel is a workaround for machine made socks because machines can't do "real" heels. For other feet other solutions may fit, luckily every knitter can work to meet his or her needs.
Here there is worked a flap heel that mostly resembles a normal flap heel but is worked bottom up and though it fits mostly like a normal flap heel. On the first approach is was rather awkward to work, the second sock went a bit smoother and now for the third try (yes, I already cast on for another pair of toe up socks) I only needed the pattern two or three times. It's getting better.
And now for something completely different - socks for me.
I had even to buy yarn for these socks. It was absolutely necessary to knit them in green and although I have every possible (and even impossible) colours and colour combinations there was nothing in green.
But when there are no other problems ...
Vinnland - downunder
As I don't like knitting socks toe-up, I just flipped the pattern. Now it has the different direction but thats no harm to the beautiful looks - just my opinion.
Another ball of sock yarn gone from the stash. This violet-blue combination is here for about a year and I wanted to knit it for some time, because I like the colours so much. Although they are cool colours and therefore not in my scheme - the feet are far away from the face.
